South Downs Way Day Four

Clayton to Upper Beading. First stop was ar Devil’s Dyke where paragliders were jumping into a dyke said to be dug by the devil himself to flood all the churches in Sussex with the waters of the English Channel. Gorgeous views, fantastic coffee cake, and a tasty brew called Summer Lightning from Salisbury. Image Image Image Then we journeyed into Bramber and toured the Norman ruins and Bramber Castle. Image Finally we crossed the River Arun and arrived in Upper Beading where we stayed at a lovely B and B called House of the Rising Sun. Image Image

  1. Glorious, all of it! That B&B looks so – I hate to use the word, but charming 🙂 – and you are extra-beautiful in front of those brilliant paraglide chute colors! Also, I love the beer and coffee cake pairing – who needs tea in Britain when you’ve got a good brew of another sort? 🙂

  2. I love to see you roaming the land of our ancestors! The Broomfields, the Lamsons and the Cussins bless your steps in the homeland.
